101st Airborne Beanie Hat - Black
Quality black beanie hat made from 100% acrylic. The insignia of the 101st Airborne is embroidered onto the front of the cap. The beanies are one size fits all, and are machine washable.
The 101st Airborne Division was formed in the United States in August 1942, and the nickname of the Division was The Screaming Eagles, which is reflected in the official Division patch.
With the motto 'Rendezvous with Destiny', one of the 101st Division's most famous battles was at Bastogne, Belgium, during the Ardennes Offensive. The German Military had the town surrounded. With the cold weather, low ammunition, and low rations, the 101st and a small number of the 10th Armoured Division, held off wave after wave of attacks to take the town. When the German commander Heinrich Freiherr Von Lüttwitz requested the American's surrender the Town of Bastogne, General Anthony McAuliffe (Acting Commander of the 101st) famously sent the following reply;
'To the German Commander.

The town was never surrendered, and eventually the German lines were broken, ending the Siege.
The 101st Airborne have been depicted in Films such as 'Saving Private Ryan' and the TV Series 'Band of Brothers'.
