Description
Our reproduction protective canister is perfect for your WW1 German gas mask. Also known as ‘Lederschutzmaske,’ these containers are made from a strong metal and come in a green/ field grey colour. A hinged lid is attached to the top and closes via a single clasp, on the inside of the lid there is a small compartment for spare lenses. The carrying strap is made from a thick cotton webbing.
This type of canister was worn within the German Army and contained the Ledershutzmaske. Interestingly, the Imperial German Government contracted Osram brand light bulb company to create these and the diameter and screw type for this canister could have been identical to their lightbulbs.
These protective canisters are ideal for any collector or impressionist looking for a new item for their portrayal.
