WW2 German SS Blood Order Medal Box
WW2 German SS Blood Order Medal Box
A smart presentation box for SS Blood Order medals, complete with "8. 9. November 1923" inscription on the lid.
The medal was introduced in 1934 and was awarded to those who took part in the 'Beer Hall Putsch' in 1923. The Putsch was an unsuccessful attempt to seize power by Hitler in Munich, with the ambition to march on Berlin to oust the government. He took inspiration from Mussolini's march on Rome a year beforehand, which had successfully installed their Fascist government. It was a result of this failed coup which led to the imprisonment of Adolf Hitler, where he famously wrote Mein Kampf.
These would have been manufactured by Leistungsgemeinschaft der deutschen Ordenhersteller (LDO), the organisation responsible for the order distribution, the raw material allocation as well as the quality of medals and the companies that manufactured them in Nazi Germany.
Complete with gold inscription on the lid, smart deep red exterior, tidy closure button and cream padded velvet interior.
The box measures approximately 9.4 x 6.2 x 2.8 cm.
