Description
The 38th Infantry Division, also known as the ‘Cyclone’ Division, was established in 1916 and has a storied history that spans over a century of service. The division earned its nickname during World War I when a tornado struck its training facilities at Camp Shelby, Mississippi. Over the years the division has seen action in both World Wars and, post-war, has taken part in numerous domestic disaster relief efforts, notably including responding to the destruction left in the wake of Hurricane Katrina.
The division’s patch features a distinctive shield design, outlined in green, with a blue left half and a red right half. At the centre, the letters 'CY' are prominently displayed, representing their nickname. Measuring approximately 6cm wide and 7cm tall, this original embroidered patch features detailed stitching and vibrant colours. The raw edge, characteristic of this original, is preserved, adding an extra touch of authenticity.
