In 1916, the British Mark 1 was the first tank to enter combat in WW1. Distinguished by their unusual rhomboidal shape, these tanks were designed to cross the wide and deep trenches of the Western Front. This impressive tank could withstand the machine-gun fire of No Mans Land, navigate over difficult terrain, crush barbed wire, and cross trenches to destroy enemy positions with powerful armament.
