Description

WW2 British Paratrooper Helmet Liner

The early British Paratrooper Helmets were first introduced in 1942, firstly with the P Type Helmet and then the 'helmet, steel, airborne troops', HSAT. In October 1942 the HSAT MkI was introduced to replace the first HSAT, with the most noticeable difference being the replacement of a rubber rim with a spot welded steel rim.

This Paratroopers helmet liner with chin strap is really well put together. The outer metal rim is the main focal point as both the adjustable straps and suspension system fix to it. Internally, a thick foam cushion is covered by a lovely soft leather for increased comfort. The leather cover is stamped with the size within a shield, flanked by a 1942 date. This date was chosen to suit the mid war use of the helmet. The BMB at the top of the stamp denotes Briggs Motor Bodies Ltd of Dagenham, who made helmets for the British Military until 1943. The suspension system is held in place by a leather strap which runs the circumference of the metal rim.

These liners were designed to be worn when jumping out of a plane, and so had a tight fit to make sure they don't come off. If your paratrooper helmet doesn't sit neatly when you first put it on, you can adjust it by unscrewing the necessary screwliner, moving the strap and putting the screw back through a different hole, like you would do with a belt.

As an upgrade, replacement or simply a spare, these Paratrooper Helmet Liners are a must for reenactors world wide.
