WW2 British P37 Front Utility Pouch with Strap
These are original WW2 British 37 Pattern Front Utility Pouches with straps.
Introduced in 1937, the British 37 Pattern webbing system was widely used by British and Commonwealth nations during WW2 and into the 1950s. Born out of the requirement to allow soldiers to carry more ammunition, the 37 Pattern system featured a greater capacity than previous British patterns. All pouches were made of cotton webbing which was waterproofed and dyed during the manufacturing process.
These would have been worn in conjunction with a back utility pouch which has a loop which the waist strap on the back of this item would run through.
These particular pouches are original pouches which date to the late or early post war years. They are in excellent condition and fully serviceable, although some variation in colour and wear is to be expected. These are surprisingly hard to find pouches and would be an excellent addition to any WW2 enthusiast's collection.
