US Drill Instructors Hat
Quality reproduction of one of the most iconic pieces of American Militaria.
The M1911 Campaign Hat is made of OD wool felt with a wide brim and "Montana peak" crown. It has ventilation holes in the crown with grommets, a hatband and a leather chin strap.
Worn by all ranks between the World Wars they were phased out of general use from 1939. Certain individual Officers and NCOs wore the Campaign Hat to express their individuality, especially early in the war.
After WW2 they were issued almost exclusively by drill instructors. Characters like Gunnery Sergeant Hartman, in Full Metal Jacket, have cemented the Campaign Hat's iconic status.
Also worn by Canadian Mounties and the Boy Scouts, the Campaign Hat is wonderful addition to a collection or as something to wear on a sunny day.
