Tiger Moth Coaster
Brand new Tiger Moth coaster as part of our new RAF themed cup coaster range.
Designed by Geoffrey De Havilland and his team, the prototype Tiger Moth took to the skies for the first time on the 26th October 1931. The aircraft was a huge success, and various models of the aircraft being exported to over 25 different nations air forces. It was in 1932 when the Moth was adopted as a training aircraft for the RAF. Many of the wartime RAF pilots would have their first taste of flight in a Tiger Moth. The aircraft was to go on to perform various roles including Coastal Patrols, Radio controlled drones for Anti Aircraft gunnery practice and 350 aircraft were even modified to carry small bombs, or to cut the cords of German paratroopers parachute's should there be an invasion of Britain!
A total of 8,868 Tiger moth's were produced until 1944. Many are still flying around the world today.
These cup coasters depict a flying Tiger Moth on a white background. Each coaster measures 9 cm by 9 cm and is 3.17 mm thick. The coasters are made from hardboard with a durable glossy finish.
