RZM Authorisation Label
A reproduction RZM authorisation cloth tag.
The Reichszeugmeisterei (RZM) was the national material control office of Nazi Germany. Originally established in the late 20's to organise the distribution of uniform and equipment to Nazi party members. When the Nazi's came to power the RZM secured its exclusive right to license manufacturers and tradesmen and given responsibility for the coordination of all procurement of uniforms and equipment projects. The RZM office defined design, manufacturing and quality standards, and published an authoritative colour chart for textiles.
All pieces of equipment had to be labelled with a visible RZM copyright protection symbol and a product-assigned RZM number that contained encoded data about the textile sector, material group, producer number and year of production.
The tag measures approximately 7.5 x 2.5 cm.
