US Division Patches - 80th Infantry Division, nicknamed "Blue Ridge Division" their motto being "Only moves forward!".Â
The 80th ID can trace their history back to World War 1 and fought  during WW2, and the first Gulf War. They have also served in Iraq and Afghanistan
During WW2, the Division landed on Utah Beach, Normandy on August 5th 1944. Playing a key role in the breakout from Avranches, the 80th Infantry Division then attacked and captured Argentan in late August. The divison played a key role in creating the 'Falaise Pocket', in which a large number of German forces were surrounded by Allied troops. It was in December 1944, the 80th ID again found themselves in heavy combat, taking part in the 'Battle of the Bulge', their role being to try and breakthrough to reach the 101st Airborne surrounded at Bastogne. The Division continued to persue the retreating German forces across Europe until the end of the war.
After WW2, the 80th ID was reorganised as an Airborne Unit. Following this, again, the 80th Division were reorganised, eventually becoming a 'Training Division'. Their HQ is currently in Virginia, USA.
